Mary Reid Barrow shows some love for PHP. “It’s something that everybody in the city will be able to enjoy.” Duke said.

Read the entire awesome article at Pilotonline.com:

PHP, as it has come to be known, has been a dream of Shore Drive citizens and one of the priorities of the city’s open-space acquisition plan for a decade.

Now the dream may be within reach as the city, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the trust for Public Land have been collaborating to purchase the $13 million tract, said Barbara Duke, senior open-space planner with the Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Department.

  1. Thanks for posting! I know it has been a dream of ‘shore drive citizens’ and one in particular, who, as an “open space widow” (as I liked to jokingly yet proudly call myself for about a decade,) I know very well— Tim Solanic who just wouldn’t give up on this piece of property called PHP, even when many, including myself, thought he was kinda crazy. An “environmental learning center?” a decade ago (when Tim kept talking about it) that sounded totally improbable, even far-out, and yet now, the Chespeake Bay Foundation intends to build their state-of-the- art green building and exactly that, on the site! I love how the seeds of brilliance are planted by and worked toward by your “average citizen who has a dream”….. Like Tim! Congratulations
Timmah, for TRAILBLAZING THE WAY for this dream to come true!!!
