HIT More money for nature

Pleasure House Point gets props from Virginian Pilot Editorial page again:

The state land conservation board has endorsed efforts to protect the largest undeveloped tract on the Lynnhaven River, awarding $500,000 to help preserve Pleasure House Point. The Virginia Land Conservation Foundation grant helps with the acquisition of 82 acres of coastal wetlands and maritime forest, a joint project of the Trust for Public Land, the city of Virginia Beach and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Advocates are working to increase the size of the proposed park and natural habitat preserve, and this grant helps ensure that the 122-acre property will be protected rather than converted to high-density development.
